We’re always looking to bring talent on board

We have ambitious goals and recognize that we need strong talent to fulfill our mission, creating a (BIPOC) children’s literacy and exploration destination that includes experiences that visitors value and services that are needs based. Children & the Milwaukee community need to see, experience, interact with and make connections with literacy experts, artists and educational experts who look like them.

Youth, are amazing just as they are. Their story, experiences and the path that hopefully has led them to Rooted MKE, is worthy. We strive to strengthen their voice while creating a warm space where the world can come to them through the pages of a book or a shared experience. Through books with characters who look and feel familiar, with perspectives that are as varied as each of ours. Or through storytelling and rich exchanges with artists and facilitators. We carry this belief through everything we do. From recommending titles, to creating pieces of art together, to tutoring and provide high-quality academic support.

We learn alongside each other and are excited to learn, and begin our journey with you.

Rooted MKE Artist Residency

Resident artists have the unique opportunity to share their craft with youth who aspire to also be artists, want to pick up on or perfect a skill, or want to hold space and explore alongside other enthused peers.

Resident artists host four-week-long paid residencies where they facilitate programming in their area of expertise, providing step-by-step support to youth ranging from 6-15. Sessions begin with simple concepts and build upon each other weekly, to end in a high-quality finished project that reflects the style and customization of each participant.

Sessions are offered at both an introductory, novice level and a high-interest, fine detail level for both the beginner and the well-versed participant. Resident artists are supported by Rooted MKE implementation coaches to ensure each participant receives as much support and guidance as appropriate based on their needs in a collaborative, supportive and nurturing environment.

Residence opportunities are ongoing; We are always seeking to build relationships with BIPOC artists and makers. Let’s learn, explore and create together!

Interested in being an academic support coach?

Academic support team members have the unique opportunity to support students ranging from 4-16 years old in bolstering their academic skills, competence and confidence. Academic support team members work in one-on-one, or small (2-4 student), concentrated settings tailored to support the unique needs of the learner.

Rooted MKE utilizes research based strategies, interventions and curriculum to ensure all students have a strong math, literacy, problem-solving and writing foundation. We do this by creating a roadmap for each student and work intensively towards benchmark goals, created with the student and parents, to progress academically.

We are looking for BIPOC individuals who are passionate about learning, organized, compassionate and ready to work collaboratively with families on their student’s academic journey. All students are capable of learning, advancing and unlocking their skills and talents; We simply walk beside them and fill their toolbox along the way. Ready to encourage and crush some goals?
