What types of books do you sell?

Rooted MKE features a curated selection of BIPOC Children’s and Young Adult (YA) titles. We try our best to ensure that all titles and written, illustrated by, or showcase BIPOC characters.

What do you offer?

We are a bookstore and sell brand-new books, as well as literacy kits that are paired with specific titles (and written by our literacy professionals) to offer an opportunity to practice guided literacy and comprehension strategies. We also host arts/makers exploratory learning courses that can be viewed and booked here Classes & Events as well as private tutoring and academic support sessions that can be booked here Tutoring.

what subjects do you tutor?

While we specialize in literacy, math and Spanish instruction, we do offer academic coaching in all subject areas. Our staff and support team have over 30 years of experience in education, use research-based strategies, interventions & practices and facilitate instruction using a sequenced, systematic and explicit approach. We support students from 1st grade - high school in both one-on-one and small group sessions.

can i pick up an order in-store

Yes, you can order a title online for pick up in store, or have the order shipped to your home. If you want the package wrapped (a gift), please choose the “pick up in store option”. Besides, we’d love to see you to say thanks, so come on by!

Do i have to stay with my child while they take a course or tutor?

We do have a small waiting area for parents, however you can also drop off your child and pick them up at the conclusion of their scheduled session. If you are more than 5 minutes late for pickup a late fee may be assessed.
